Today at 3pm EST, SLEEPtember kicks off with Adam Amdur, ASAA Chairperson and sleep apnea patient, Ernestine Key, ASAA Board Member, hypertension patient and apnea caregiver, and Marc Ostrick, filmmaker and open-heart patient. “How Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) Impacts Sleep Apnea Patients” with Shelley Berson, MD, FACS
Justine Amdur, ASAA Program Coordinator and patient with reflux and upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS) will be discussing how GERD impacts apnea patients. Featuring Dr. Berson, an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist, and a board-certified sleep medicine and allergy specialist.

Erin Taylor, ASAA Grant Writer and sleep apnea patient along with Peter Stein, Apnea Patient and ASAA Advisor, and his spouse Jeanne, lead the way on mental/cognitive issues that impact sleep apnea patients. This segment features Dr. Grandner, who is Assoc. Professor of Psychology Univ. of Arizona, Dir. of Behavioral Sleep Medicine Clinic.

For those interested in diabetes, Theresa Shumard ASAA Board Member and diabetes and sleep apnea patient takes the helm with Dr. Jean-Louis. He is Professor of Population Health and Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. They will be sharing information on diabetes and how this condition can be related to sleep apnea.

“Community Health Disparities and the Latest COVID-19 Updates” with Alicia Chung, EdD, MPH, and Azizi Seixas, PhD
Last but not least, ASAA Team Members, Eugena Brooks, Kevin Bradley and Adam Amdur, will tie it all together with a discussion on community health disparities and the latest updates on COVID-19 with Dr. Seixas, Assistant Professor of Population Health and Psychiatry NYU Langone Health, and Dr. Chung, Assistant Professor, Department of Population Health at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
